SpaceX launches 28 new Starlink satellites into orbit

SpaceX has successfully launched a group of 28 mini-satellites to bolster the orbital network of its global internet service, Starlink.

The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off on December 4 from the SLC-4E launch pad at the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California at 12:42 PST (00:42 Baku time), Caliber.Az reports via SpaceX.

Around an hour later, the satellites separated from the rocket’s second stage and entered orbit.

The mission also marked the fourth flight of the rocket’s first stage, which completed a controlled vertical landing on the drone ship Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific Ocean.

Since May 2019, SpaceX has deployed over 10,500 Starlink satellites. Some have failed or deorbited, but more than 9,100 remain operational in orbit.
