Spain’s defence minister slams Trump’s Hormuz blockade plan as “meaningless”
Spain’s Defence Minister Margarita Robles has described US President Donald Trump’s announced maritime blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as “meaningless,” arguing that it lacks strategic justification, BFM reports.
Robles said the move would only further escalate already heightened regional tensions, stating: “This is another episode in the overall spiral of escalation we have been drawn into.”
Her remarks were made during an interview with Spanish public television, where she addressed the broader implications of the worsening security situation in the region.
To note, hours after the US-Iran talks in Islamabad collapsed, President Donald Trump warned that US forces would immediately “begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz”.
