Spain to allocate €415 million for Ukraine's reconstruction
The Spanish authorities have promised to allocate 415 million euros for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
This is stated in a press release of the kingdom's Foreign Ministry following a meeting in Madrid between the head of the kingdom's Foreign Ministry, Jose Manuel Albares, and Ukrainian Minister of National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Thus, the Spanish diplomat reiterated that Madrid supports Kyiv.
“Spain also allocated 110 million euros for humanitarian aid and made a commitment of 415 million euros for the reconstruction of Ukraine,: specified in the communiqué.
In addition, Albares drew attention to the fact that the kingdom has received about 236 thousand Ukrainians.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Spain has emerged as a key supporter of Ukraine, providing significant military, humanitarian, and financial aid. The Spanish government committed extensive military support, including weapons systems like Leopard tanks, Patriot anti-missile systems, and ammunition. In addition to direct supplies, Spain has been actively involved in training Ukrainian soldiers through the EU Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM), with Spanish instructors training thousands of Ukrainian troops.
On the humanitarian front, Spain has been a leader in assisting Ukrainian refugees, offering shelter and resources. The country has allocated substantial funds to provide for those displaced by the war, ranking third in Europe for refugee support, behind Germany and Poland. Financially, Spain has continued to contribute to Ukraine's defense efforts, with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announcing further aid packages, including a €1 billion military assistance package in early 2025.
