Spanish PM labels US war on Iran “extraordinary mistake”

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has described the United States’ war against Iran as an “extraordinary mistake,” emphasizing that cooperation should take precedence over confrontation in bilateral relations.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, Sánchez noted that tensions had risen following Madrid’s opposition to Washington using its military bases against Iran, France 24 reports.

"Relations must be conducted with respect, in a spirit of loyal cooperation, and on an equal footing," he said, underscoring the importance of collaboration rather than conflict between the two allies.
