Spokesman: Yemen's Houthi rebels strike US aircraft carrier with missiles, drones
Spokesman for Yemen's Houthi rebels Yahya Sarea has said that Houthi rebels from Ansar Allah insurgent group launched another attack on the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman in the Red Sea, using missiles and drones.
“The strikes lasted for several hours,” he said, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
"As a response to the aggression of the US, which has carried out dozens of airstrikes on Yemen in the past few hours, our forces, supported by missile units and drones, engaged in combat with the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and several enemy warships in the Red Sea, using missiles and drones," the spokesman noted.
He also emphasised that preparation for a new attack on Yemen was thwarted, and as a result of the missile and drone strikes, the US military aircraft were forced to return.
The spokesman pointed out that Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi had previously warned of the potential for escalating conflict.
Additionally, he emphasised that the maritime blockade in the region would continue until Israel allows humanitarian aid access to the Gaza Strip.
"We will obstruct Israeli vessels in the declared military operation zone and continue the naval blockade against Israel," the spokesman added.
