Stellantis recalls over 1.3 million Jeep vehicles worldwide over fire risk
Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, has announced a global recall of more than 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks due to a potential fire risk, urging owners to park their vehicles away from structures or other cars until repairs are completed.
The recall covers 2021–2025 model year Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles, following the identification of an electrical connection issue in the wiring of the electric hydraulic power steering pump. In rare cases, the defect could cause components to overheat and potentially ignite combustible materials, leading to a vehicle fire, Reuters reports.
According to Stellantis, the recall affects approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the United States, 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and about 125,000 in other international markets.
The company said the remedy will involve inspecting and, if necessary, repairing or replacing the wiring harness or the electric hydraulic power steering pump. It added that it is working to accelerate the availability of fixes, with a resolution expected no later than July.
Stellantis reported that it has received one report of a potential injury linked to the issue, but said there have been no confirmed crashes or fatalities.
