Stellantis to launch small affordable electric cars from 2028

Automotive group Stellantis has announced plans to begin production of a new range of small, affordable electric vehicles in 2028, marking a push into the lower-cost segment of the European EV market.

The company said on May 19 that the project will focus on compact, fully electric cars designed for urban use, combining affordability with what it described as “cutting-edge design” and next-generation battery-electric vehicle (BEV) technology developed with selected partners, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

The first models are expected to roll off production lines in 2028, with Stellantis indicating the vehicles will be rolled out across multiple brands within its portfolio.

Chief executive Antonio Filosa said the initiative responds to growing consumer demand for smaller, stylish and more accessible electric cars produced in Europe.

“Our customers are calling for a revival of small, stylish vehicles, proudly produced in Europe, which are also affordable and environmentally friendly,” Filosa said. “Stellantis is answering their call with exciting new models for multiple brands.”
