Sugar prices surge to highest level in more than year

Global sugar prices have climbed sharply, reaching their highest level since May 2025 amid a strong rally in the futures market.

The October sugar futures contract rose 4.09% to 17.56 US cents per pound as of 15:18 Moscow time, according to data from ICE Futures. Prices briefly touched 17.58 cents per pound during the trading session.

The latest rise extends a strong upward trend in the sugar market. Prices have gained 19% since the start of August, highlighting the scale of the recent rally.
