Suicide attack targets security installation in northwestern Pakistan
A powerful explosion struck Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on September 2 when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the gate of the Frontier Constabulary headquarters in Bannu district, police said.
The blast triggered heavy gunfire and multiple secondary explosions as militants reportedly stormed the security compound, a local police officer told Anadolu Agency, Caliber.Az reports.
Security forces swiftly cordoned off the area, and an operation against the attackers is ongoing.
According to police, at least three officers were injured in the assault, while some of the militants were killed during the exchange of fire. Local residents reported that debris from the attacker’s vehicle was scattered along Kohat Road.
Authorities have sealed off the area surrounding the constabulary headquarters and urged residents to remain indoors until security operations are concluded.
