Suicide bombing at Pakistan security post kills at least 14

At least 14 people, including soldiers, police officers and a provincial forest department official, were killed in a suicide bombing targeting a security post in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, security sources said.

The attack took place late on July 23 in Tank district when a vehicle-borne suicide bomber detonated explosives at the post, causing extensive damage and casualties, the sources told Xinhua.

The dead included nine soldiers, four police officers and a forest department official. At least 24 people, including 20 soldiers and four police officers, were injured and taken to nearby hospitals.

The blast destroyed the security post, while rescue teams continued search and evacuation operations. Three soldiers were believed to be trapped under the rubble.

Security forces later killed three militants in the surrounding area during clearance operations, according to the sources.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and an investigation is underway.
