Suspect in theft of Polish PM’s Lexus detained at Gdańsk airport
A 41-year-old man suspected of stealing a Lexus belonging to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was apprehended on the morning of September 13 at Gdańsk airport, just minutes before he was set to board a flight to Bulgaria.
According to Provincial Police Headquarters in Gdańsk, quoted by Polish media, the suspect, a resident of Sopot and a Polish citizen, has a prior criminal record, including involvement in fraud and offences against health and life.
The suspect did not resist arrest, much to the surprise of law enforcement officers.
A special border guard intervention team also participated in the operation.
Authorities searched the suspect’s home and seized materials that may be crucial for further investigation.
The man remains in custody and is at the disposal of the prosecutor’s office as the investigation into the theft continues.
