Sweden allocates over $30 million to support Ukraine's energy sector
The government of Sweden has announced a new allocation of 320 million Swedish kronor (approximately $30.4 million) as part of a joint aid package to Ukraine, organized in collaboration with Nordic and Baltic nations.
This funding is specifically aimed at restoring Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of the winter season, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
According to a statement from the government office, "This aid package is crucial for supporting the Ukrainian energy sector and ensuring the resilience of Ukrainian society, helping to keep homes warm during the cold months."
Since February 2022, Sweden has committed a total of 57.4 billion kronor (about $5.45 billion) in support of Ukraine, which includes humanitarian, military, and economic assistance, as well as aid for reconstruction and reform efforts. With this latest contribution, Sweden's total support for Ukraine's energy supply has exceeded 2.1 billion kronor (approximately $199.5 million).
