Sweden to allocate $1.4 million to support Ukrainian media
The Swedish government has allocated 15 million kroner ($1.4 million) to support Suspilne, the Ukrainian public TV, on the sidelines of the international donor conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on December 12, the statement of the Swedish Government Office said.
The funds will be allocated for three years and can be used "to create convenient platforms for digital news information and strengthen Ukraine's journalistic potential". The Swedish agency SIDA and radio company Sveriges Radio have been supporting Suspilne since 2017.
The government also announced that it is due to adopt a new winter package for Ukraine, to support the Ukrainian people ahead of the winter and alleviate suffering in the country. The package is worth a total of 1.4 billion kroner ($133 million) and is the largest single non-military Swedish package to Ukraine.
