Switzerland launches “Twinned Karabakh Schools” project PHOTO
A project of the Azerbaijan Diaspora Support Foundation "Karabakh twin schools" has been launched in Switzerland.
Within the framework of the project, on August 7-13, pupils of schools of the Azerbaijani liberated cities of Aghdam, Shusha, Lachin, Jabrayil, Fuzuli and Zangilan, together with pupils of the "Karabakh" Sunday School functioning in Switzerland, were accommodated in the "Juvenat" camp, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani State Committee for Diaspora Affairs.
Some 17 students and two teachers from Azerbaijan, 11 students and two teachers from Switzerland will join the project.
The camp is led by the head of the "Cultural Center of Azerbaijanis in Switzerland" Gasim Nasirov.
It is planned to inform students about the history of Karabakh, their participation in cultural and educational panels, familiarization with the sights of Bern, Balenberg and other cities, visits to the parliament, various museums of Switzerland, nature walks, entertaining games and exchange of experience.
The project started to be implemented last year. Within the project, pupils of the Sunday School functioning in Switzerland and children from IDP and families of Martyrs were trained at the Republican Children and Youth Recreation and Health Center "Jirtdan" located in Shuvalan settlement of Khazar district of Baku on July 18-24, 2022.
The project involved 10 students and two instructors from Switzerland and 14 students and two instructors from local schools. It was organized that the students, who participated in cultural and educational panels during the week, visited picturesque corners and museums of our country. In addition, along with communication and networking, Azerbaijani language classes were organized.
This project is implemented within the framework of recommendations made by President Ilham Aliyev during his speech at the V Congress of World Azerbaijanis held in Shusha, the cultural capital of our country, on activation of activities aimed at opening Sunday schools, constant propaganda of the native language uniting all citizens of Azerbaijan.
On the initiative and instruction of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, the process of establishment of "Karabakh" schools in foreign countries was started. Sunday schools started functioning in the cities of Nantes (France), Bern (Switzerland), Warsaw (Poland), and Stockholm (Sweden). The aim of these schools is not only to teach Azerbaijani children their native language, literature, history, and culture but also to inform them about the realities of our country in order to preserve their national identity.
