Syria open to normalizing relations with Turkey, insists on adherence to int’l law

Syria maintains a positive attitude towards all initiatives aimed at normalizing relations with Türkiye but insists on taking such steps only if the principles of international law are observed.

This stance was articulated by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during a conversation with voters at a polling station in Damascus, Caliber.Az reports via Al-Ikhbaria TV station.

"Naturally, no one wants problems with their neighbors, but Syria is ready to engage with Türkiye and improve ties according to specific guidelines," Assad explained.

He emphasized the importance of respecting international law, stating, "We are doing this because we wish the ongoing efforts to normalize Syrian-Turkish relations to succeed."
