Syria's new President Ahmed al-Sharaa receives invitations to visit Germany, France
Syria's newly appointed President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, has been invited to visit Germany, his office confirmed on February 7 following a phone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
This invitation came just two days after Sharaa's office revealed that he had also been invited to visit France, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
During the hour-long phone call, Chancellor Scholz congratulated the Syrian people on their success in ending the rule of former President Bashar al-Assad, who was ousted in December. Scholz expressed Germany's readiness to assist in Syria's reconstruction efforts, a sentiment echoed by a spokesperson for the German government.
The two leaders also discussed the critical need for an inclusive political process in Syria, one that guarantees participation for all Syrians and ensures their rights and protection.
"The Federal Chancellor underlined the ongoing importance of the fight against terrorism for security in Syria, the region and worldwide," the spokesperson added.
