Syria seeks to expand agricultural exports partnership with Ukraine via its ports
Syria is seeking to deepen cooperation with Ukraine in agriculture and establish a logistics hub for the re-export of food commodities through Syrian ports, President Ahmed al-Sharaa has said.
In an interview with Turkish news agency Anadolu, al-Sharaa said Damascus viewed agricultural and energy cooperation as central pillars of its relationship with Ukraine.
“Syria and Ukraine maintain historic partnership relations, particularly in food and energy sectors. Syria is, by nature, an agricultural country that needs development and skills in this field.
A key area of cooperation with Ukraine is the creation of a hub in Syria for the re-export of major food commodities through Syrian ports,” he said.
Earlier in April, a Ukrainian delegation visited Damascus. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said discussions covered “everything from security and defence and the situation in the region to developments around Iran, as well as energy and infrastructure cooperation.”
