Syrian army reports artillery fire from Lebanon, blames Hezbollah
The Operations Authority of the Syrian Arab Army confirmed that artillery shells landed on Syrian territory near Serghaya, west of Damascus, reportedly fired from Lebanese territory.
According to SANA, the Syrian army holds Lebanese Hezbollah militias responsible for the attack on army positions near Serghaya.
The Operations Authority reported that reinforcements for Hezbollah militias have been observed arriving at the Syrian-Lebanese border. The army is closely monitoring developments and assessing its next steps.
The statement added that Syrian forces are in contact with the Lebanese army and evaluating appropriate measures to respond if necessary.
The Syrian Arab Army will respond firmly to any attack on Syria and is prepared to act decisively if needed, the authority emphasised.
