Syrian army targets terrorist positions in northern Aleppo, southern Idlib

30 November 2024 11:10

The Syrian army continues to target terrorist positions and movements in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib, causing significant losses in both personnel and equipment.

Syrian and Russian air forces carried out airstrikes on militant positions near the city of Mare’ in northern Aleppo, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

In southern Idlib, Syrian and Russian airstrikes focused on terrorist targets in the areas surrounding al-Bara and Benin in Jabal al-Zawiya.

Additionally, the Syrian army launched rocket attacks on militant sites in the towns of al-Ruwayha, Khan al-Sabeel, and Maar Dabseh in the southern Idlib countryside.

Amid the ongoing battles between the Syrian army and terrorist groups, over 200 militants were reported killed on Friday in the Aleppo and Idlib regions, according to the Russian Coordination Center in Syria. The center also confirmed that more than 600 terrorists had been killed in the past two days.

The Russian Coordination Center stated that the Russian Air Force is providing crucial support to the Syrian army in its operations against terrorist groups. Notably, the Syrian army has inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists, killing and wounding hundreds, destroying dozens of vehicles and armored vehicles, and downing or destroying 17 drones.

On November 29, the Syrian army regained control of several points previously breached by terrorist groups and is continuing to bolster its positions on multiple fronts with additional equipment and troops to prevent further breaches.

Earlier, Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh claimed that the terrorist attacks carried out by large numbers of militants on Aleppo and its countryside since early Wednesday align with the objectives of "the Israeli occupation and its supporters."

Sabbagh emphasized that Syria has repeatedly warned of the clear coordination between Israeli strikes and the offensives launched by terrorist groups against the country.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also commented on the situation, suggesting that the reactivation of terrorist groups in Syria is part of a U.S.-Israeli plan following "Israel’s" setbacks in Lebanon and Palestine.

In a phone conversation with his Syrian counterpart, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s steadfast support for Syria’s government, people, and army in their fight against terrorism, and in their efforts to safeguard regional security and stability.

On November 28, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei warned that the ongoing terrorist activities in Aleppo, Idlib, and surrounding areas—designated as de-escalation zones—represent a direct violation of the de-escalation agreement, threatening its achievements.

Baghaei further stressed the "international community’s responsibility to combat terrorism," warning of the consequences of inaction in the face of these groups’ resurgence in Syria, which could lead to further chaos and instability in the region.
