Syrian, French FMs meet in Paris to explore strategic cooperation

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Assad Hassan al-Shaibani met in Paris with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot to discuss matters of mutual interest and explore avenues to strengthen strategic partnerships between the two countries.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry announced the meeting on its official Telegram channel, SANA reports.

According to the statement, the discussions also included the potential resumption of operations by French companies in Syria, particularly in sectors tied to economic activity.

Barrot reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Syria’s reconstruction and economic recovery efforts, emphasizing the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple fields.

Minister al-Shaibani was accompanied by Head of the General Intelligence Directorate, Hussien al-Salameh, for parallel negotiations with Israeli officials under US coordination and mediation, highlighting the broader regional dimension of his visit.
