Syrian president forms National Security Council to tackle threats Photo
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa signed a decree on the formation of the National Security Council.
Based on the powers granted to the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, and in accordance with the supreme national interest, as well as the commitment to strengthening national security and addressing the security and political challenges of the coming period, the President of the Republic decrees the following:

A National Security Council shall be established under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, with the aim of coordinating and managing security and political policies.

The National Security Council shall be composed of the following members:

The Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Minister of Defence.
-
The Director of General Intelligence.
-
The Minister of the Interior.
-
Two advisory members, appointed by the President of the Republic based on competence and expertise.

A technical specialist member, appointed by the President of the Republic to oversee technical and scientific matters relevant to the Council’s sessions.

The National Security Council shall convene regularly or upon the invitation of the President of the Republic. Decisions related to national security and the challenges facing the state shall be made in consultation with the members.

The tasks and working mechanisms of the National Security Council shall be determined by directives from the President of the Republic, in line with the supreme national interest and to ensure effective coordination among various agencies and institutions.

This decree shall come into effect from the date of its issuance and shall be communicated to the relevant authorities for implementation.
