Tanker hit by unknown projectile off Oman coast

A tanker was struck by an unknown projectile while sailing off the coast of Oman, causing a fire but leaving all crew members unharmed, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.

According to UKMTO, the incident occurred about 8 nautical miles east of Limah, Oman, as the southbound tanker was hit on its port side by an unidentified projectile, Caliber.Az reports.

The fire was reported on board the vessel, but no casualties or environmental damage have been reported.

UKMTO said authorities are investigating the incident and advised vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
