The attack occurred approximately 9 nautical miles (16.7 kilometres) northeast of Ash Shishah, Oman. According to reports received by maritime security monitors, the projectile impacted the vessel’s engine room, causing operational failure and leaving the ship without power.

The captain of the tanker confirmed that all crew members are safe. UKMTO stated that the potential environmental impact and whether the incident resulted in an oil spill remain unknown at this time.
