Tashkent–Jeddah flight diverts to Bahrain after passenger suffers cardiac arrest
An Air Samarkand flight from Tashkent to Jeddah made an emergency landing in Bahrain on December 15 after a passenger suffered a medical emergency onboard, the airline said.
According to the Uzbek airline Air Samarkand, an elderly female passenger experienced cardiac arrest during the flight to the Saudi Arabian city. The aircraft’s captain, Roman Degtev, made the decision to divert to the nearest airport to ensure immediate medical assistance, per Caliber.Az.
The cabin crew, led by senior flight attendant Svetlana Bolkonskaya, provided first aid and emergency care to the passenger until the aircraft landed. Upon arrival in Bahrain, local medical teams carried out resuscitation efforts, successfully stabilising the woman’s condition.
She was later transferred to a local hospital for further treatment.
After refuelling, the aircraft resumed its journey with a delay of approximately two hours, landing safely in Jeddah at 9:49 a.m. local time, the airline added.
