Tashkent to host "Spain – S5+Azerbaijan" agricultural forum

Senior officials from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture and diplomats from the Spanish Embassy met in Tashkent to finalise preparations for the upcoming "Spain – S5+Azerbaijan" international agricultural forum scheduled to take place in the Uzbek capital later this year, local news outlet UzDaily reported on Wednesday, July 29.

The bilateral preparatory meeting focused on organisational logistics and shaping the strategic agenda for the high-level summit, which aims to convene investors, agribusiness executives, and public sector leaders across Central Asia, Azerbaijan, and Spain.

According to a statement from the Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture, the summit is designed to foster cross-border investment, streamline commercial partnerships, and accelerate the regional adoption of advanced agricultural technology.

Central to the discussions was the integration of scientific research and technological innovation into mainstream farming practices. Uzbek officials expressed strong interest in leveraging Spanish expertise in sustainable agriculture, focusing specifically on high-efficiency water-saving irrigation systems, intensive horticulture techniques, food processing infrastructure, and specialised agricultural education.

Delegates from both nations voiced optimism that the upcoming Tashkent forum will serve as a catalyst for deeper agricultural cooperation, trade expansion, and joint commercial ventures connecting Central Asian and Azerbaijani markets with European partners.
