Teacher killed in student attack at school in Slovakia

A teacher was killed and two other people were injured after a student attacked them with a sharp object at an elementary school in Staškov, northern Slovakia.

Police said they were investigating the violent crime at the school in the Čadca district, Caliber.Az reports, citing Slovak media.

Emergency services dispatched two ground ambulances and two rescue helicopters to the scene.

According to TV JOJ, one teacher died at the scene from her injuries.

“Air rescuers transported a child in critical condition to the hospital in Martin. After initial treatment, a 44-year-old patient with a stab wound to the chest was airlifted to the hospital in Žilina. Unfortunately, the 61-year-old woman suffered injuries incompatible with life,” Petra Klimešová, a spokeswoman for the Emergency Medical Service Operations Centre, said.

The circumstances of the attack and the motive remain under investigation.
