Tehran FM says Iran ready for nuclear talks with US only if its interests upheld
Tehran and Washington are continuing to exchange messages through intermediaries regarding the resolution of the crisis surrounding Iran’s nuclear program, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
“Dialogue with the U.S. continues through intermediaries. The day the Americans are ready to negotiate based on mutual respect, we will also be fully prepared. Our rights must be respected, and our interests upheld,” Araghchi stated, Caliber.Az writes via Iranian media.
He emphasised that Tehran will not return to negotiations under previous conditions and that new frameworks must be agreed upon, taking into account the current situation.
The Iranian minister also noted that talks are ongoing with European countries regarding their initiative to restore UN Security Council sanctions against Iran.
“Three European countries (the U.K., Germany, and France) made a major mistake by invoking the snapback mechanism. In reality, it has complicated matters. Negotiations are ongoing, and I hope we will reach mutual understanding,” he added.
