Tehran mayor issues recommendations to Iranian negotiating team in US talks
11 April 2026 12:42
Alireza Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran and head of a special commission on the nuclear deal in the ninth parliament, has published a set of recommendations for the Iranian delegation participating in talks with the United States in Pakistan, Fars reports.
In his comments, he stressed the following:
- Iranian representatives should conduct negotiations from the position of a strong state, equal to global superpowers, and rely on civilisational values.
- Iran’s advantage lies in its belief in the weakness of the United States on the battlefield and Washington’s unwillingness to impose conditions.
- The US–Israeli team are criminals and should be held accountable for their alleged crimes, rather than compensating for battlefield losses at the negotiating table.
- Negotiations must be genuine and transparent, with reliable international guarantees.
- Iran’s “ten conditions” represent the minimum demands of the people and are binding.
- Continuous communication with the public and combatants regarding the progress of talks is necessary to maintain public support.
- The negotiations should take into account the combat context, demonstrating the readiness of the people and the resistance forces.
- The possibility of an international investigation into alleged crimes by US and Israeli leaders should remain open.
- The issue of uranium enrichment is considered solely for peaceful purposes, taking into account nuclear safety and the country’s needs, including enrichment at 60% for submarine nuclear reactors.
- In the regional conflict, victory must remain with Iran; negotiations should eliminate threats and contribute to sustainable peace.
- Prayer and reliance on Allah are seen as key elements of success, while excessive US demands must end in a complete Iranian victory on the battlefield.
