The official noted that the murdered judges, Ali Razini and Mohammad Moghiseh, were studying important cases, adding that enemies of the Islamic Republic constantly threaten the judiciary staff.
According to reports, the shooter, whose motives remain unclear, worked as a janitor at the Supreme Court. He opened fire with a pistol, killing two judges and injuring two others before taking his own life.
To recall, on January 18, 2025, two senior Iranian Supreme Court judges, Mohammad Moghiseh and Ali Razini, were fatally shot inside the Supreme Court building in Tehran. The assailant, who also wounded a bodyguard, committed suicide after the attack. Both judges were known for handling high-profile national security cases, including espionage and terrorism. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but it is being treated as a "planned assassination."
President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for a swift investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The attack has raised concerns about the safety of judicial officials in Iran, especially given the judges' involvement in sensitive cases. Both Moghiseh and Razini had contentious pasts, including EU and US sanctions and participation in controversial judicial activities.
