UK to share "Stone Cloak" electronic warfare technology with Ukraine

Britain will hand over the intellectual property behind its “Stone Cloak” electronic warfare system to Ukraine, allowing Kyiv to produce the technology at scale, Prime Minister Andy Burnham is expected to announce during a visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on July 27.

The tablet-sized device is designed to prevent Russian forces from detecting drones equipped with the system. The UK Ministry of Defence has already supplied thousands of the jammers to Ukrainian forces to support their drone operations, The Independent reports.

“Stone Cloak is the best of homegrown British innovation and proven on the frontline, and it will be vital to protecting our security in both our countries.”

Burnham will host Zelenskyy as his first international visitor since becoming prime minister, just a week after entering Downing Street. He is expected to reiterate that UK support for Ukraine “remains unwavering.”

The two leaders will visit a naval base, where the announcement on the technology is expected to be made.

Following its deployment in Ukraine, the system is expected to be incorporated into the UK’s next generation of long-range strike weapons, including Project Brakestop, a government initiative to develop low-cost cruise missiles.
