Tehran: Three countries rule out joining any new US war against Iran

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said three countries have assured Tehran they will not take part in any new US military operation against Iran.

“Over the past 24 hours, we have received numerous calls from the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, and Ukraine, during which they stated that they would not participate in a war against Iran,” Baghaei said in an interview with Iran's state television.

Amid heightened regional tensions stemming from the US-Israel military campaign against Iran that began in late February 2026, Iran has repeatedly protested the use of European facilities to support American operations. 

Bulgaria’s parliament recently approved the temporary stationing of US aerial refuelling aircraft at Bezmer Air Base, a move Tehran described as facilitating aggression, while the United Kingdom has permitted American forces to utilise British bases, which Iranian officials say violated international law during earlier phases of the conflict.

Ukraine, for its part, conducted drone strikes in late July 2026 on vessels in the Caspian Sea that it accused of transporting military cargo between Iran and Russia, prompting strong Iranian condemnation and a diplomatic protest.
