Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan claims responsibility for deadly Islamabad car bombing
Militants from the Pakistani group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), listed as a terrorist organisation, have claimed responsibility for the November 11 car blast in Islamabad that killed 12 people, per The Guardian.
The interior minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who confirmed the death toll, also said that 27 others were wounded.
The explosion, which was confirmed as a suicide attack by several government ministers, took place outside a district court building in the capital.
Naqvi said the bomber had tried to “enter the court premises but, failing to do so, targeted a police vehicle”.
The attack sent people fleeing in panic, leaving shattered glass and charred vehicles on the road outside district court buildings.
"It was complete chaos, lawyers and people were running inside the complex. I saw two dead bodies lying on the gate and several cars were on fire," a lawyer, Rustam Malik, told AFP.
According to Pakistan TV, the casualties were mostly passers-by or those who had arrived for court hearings.
