Tel-Aviv: Islamic Jihad launches 580 missiles at Israel since August 5

The Palestinian group Islamic Jihad has launched 580 rockets toward Israel since August 5, according to the Israel Defence Forces.

The Iron Dome missile defence system of the state copes with 97 per cent success, News.ru reports with reference to The Times Of Israel.

The Defence Forces said that of the 580 shells fired at Israel, 120 did not reach the territory of the Gaza Strip. At the same time, 200 shells were intercepted by the Iron Dome.

IDF spokesman Ran Kochav said that in retaliation, the Israeli army carried out 140 strikes on Palestine. At the same time, he stressed that only military facilities and observation posts of the country were attacked.

Also during night raids on the border with Palestine, the Israeli military detained 20 citizens of the country who may be involved in terrorist activities.

On August 5, the Israeli army launched Operation Dawn against the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group in the region. The armed forces are attacking the enclave, while a state of emergency has been imposed in the rear of the Israeli state.
