Telegram restores service in India after government ban expires
23 June 2026 12:50
Instant messaging platform Telegram has begun returning to service in India after a week-long government ban expired, with the app reappearing on Google’s Play Store, while remaining unavailable on Apple’s App Store for several hours.
The platform had already become accessible to some existing users early on Tuesday morning, June 23, before Google formally restored downloads, foreign media reports.
As of around midday, Telegram remained delisted from Apple’s App Store. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Despite the removal from the App Store, existing iPhone users were still able to access and use the messaging service.
