Telegram’s Pavel Durov unveils new confidential computing network
Telegram founder Pavel Durov has announced the launch of Cocoon, a decentralised confidential computing network designed to process artificial-intelligence requests with enhanced privacy.
Durov explained on his Telegram channel that Cocoon — short for Confidential Compute Open Network — is intended to handle users’ AI queries while ensuring full confidentiality, Caliber.Az reports.
He said the project aims to reduce reliance on major centralised cloud providers such as Amazon and Microsoft, which he described as costly intermediaries that drive up prices and compromise user privacy. Cocoon, he noted, is meant to address both the economic and privacy concerns associated with traditional AI infrastructure.
He also stated that the network would be expanded in the coming weeks to meet rising demand. Durov indicated that Telegram users can expect new AI-related features built on what he described as complete privacy protections.
