Ten missing as rescue efforts continue after Kyiv attack
Rescue operations are ongoing in Kyiv after a large-scale Russian attack on July 2, with 10 people still unaccounted for, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“Emergency and rescue operations are still ongoing in Kyiv at three locations of last night’s Russian strikes. Rescuers have already managed to clear a significant part of the rubble, but 10 people are still not in contact. The search operation will continue for as long as necessary. As of now, it is known that 30 people were killed as a result of yesterday’s strike on Kyiv. My condolences to all the families and loved ones. Nearly one hundred people were injured, including children,” Zelenskyy wrote.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said doctors had stabilised the condition of a one-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl, as well as their parents and grandmother.
The injured remain in hospital and are improving, he added. In total, four children are still receiving treatment in medical facilities.
“A 10-year-old boy reported yesterday has most likely been left orphaned. His parents are considered missing. The boy is in the hospital with his grandfather. A 15-year-old girl is also currently missing,” Klitschko wrote.
A day of mourning has been declared in Kyiv.
