Terrorist attack in Pakistan kills three policemen

Three Federal Constabulary personnel were killed in a terrorist attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district on February 23, officials confirmed.

According to a statement from Karak police spokesperson Shaukat Khan, terrorists initially carried out a quadcopter attack on the Federal Constabulary fort in the Dargah Shaheedan area, Caliber.Az reports, citing Pakistani media.

Karak District Police Officer Saood Khan added that as the injured were being transported to the hospital via ambulance, the vehicle was ambushed, resulting in the deaths of three personnel.

The incident follows a string of attacks targeting security forces in the region. Last week, an explosive-laden vehicle attack on a checkpost in Bajaur district killed 11 security personnel. On February 18, two Federal Constabulary personnel were injured in an attack on a checkpost in the Salgazi area of Wazir subdivision. In November 2025, three personnel were killed in a suicide attack on the force’s headquarters in Peshawar’s Saddar area.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has seen a sharp increase in terrorist activity over the past year. According to the Annual Security Report 2025 from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), fatalities in the province rose from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025, reflecting a significant surge in violence.
