Texas shooting leaves multiple victims, suspect found dead

About a dozen people were shot on the morning of June 12 in Midland, Texas, in what authorities described as an active shooter incident that led to an hours-long standoff, according to officials.

Midland Mayor Lori Blong said there were 11 known victims, including at least one person who was killed at the scene, Caliber.Az reports, citing CNN.

She later confirmed that the shooter was found dead and the situation had ended.

Police said officers responded after hearing gunfire from a building on the 4600 block of West Wall Street and moved quickly to secure and clear the area.

Earlier, authorities had warned that efforts to resolve the standoff were ongoing.

Midland Memorial Hospital received nine victims.

Four were taken into surgery while five were reported to be in stable condition, according to hospital officials.

The hospital briefly went into lockdown before lifting restrictions on its main campus, though its emergency department remained secured.

Officials said no details have been released about the suspect or a possible motive.

Midland is located in West Texas, roughly midway between Fort Worth and El Paso.
