Texas wildfire destroys historic railway bridge and homes VIDEO
A large wildfire in Texas has burned across approximately 6,000 hectares, destroying a historic railway bridge and causing significant damage in the area, according to a report by the Chron portal published on May 15.
The fire engulfed the wooden bridge structure, leaving the railway tracks without support. It also destroyed homes belonging to local residents as well as their vehicles.
The blaze began after a lightning strike south of Canyon in Randall County and spread quickly due to strong winds reaching up to 48 km/h, combined with high temperatures and low humidity.
Authorities evacuated residents and closed part of a highway as emergency services continue efforts to contain the fire and assess the extent of the damage. No casualties have been reported so far.
