Thai army accuses Cambodia of firing rockets at border areas
Thailand’s military has accused Cambodia’s armed forces of firing BM-21 Grad rockets at Thai border regions, further escalating tensions that have persisted for four days.
In an official statement, the Thai army said Cambodia was recording footage of the clashes “to show it to the world and portray itself as a victim, despite repeatedly initiating the attacks,” per a foreign media outlet.
“Cambodia fired BM-21 rockets at four Thai border districts. The Second Army Region is responding to defend our sovereignty,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the number of Cambodian civilians killed by Thai shelling since Monday has risen to six, AFP reported, citing Cambodia’s Ministry of Defence.
The situation along the border continues to deteriorate, as both sides intensify cross-border fire—primarily mortar rounds and rockets—while accusing each other of violating a ceasefire agreement.
