Thai soldiers open fire on Cambodian civilians, five injured
12 November 2025 15:50
Thai soldiers reportedly opened fire on Cambodian civilians in the border village of Prey Chan, Banteay Meanchey province, leaving five people injured, preliminary reports from local authorities confirmed.
The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. along the Cambodia–Thailand border, a region that has seen escalating tensions in recent months, Kmer Times reports.
The incident comes just a day after Thailand unilaterally suspended a peace agreement, originally brokered by US President Donald Trump, following a landmine explosion along the frontier.
Authorities in Banteay Meanchey have launched an investigation into the incident. Officials have indicated that further updates will be released as more information becomes available.
