The Guardian: Trump's Truth Social sees audience decline, raising concerns for 2024 election
Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform has experienced a third consecutive month of declining audience engagement as of June, according to Howard Polskin, a prominent analyst of rightwing media.
Polskin, president of TheRighting, noted that this trend could signal potential challenges for the former president in the upcoming November elections, Caliber.Az reports, citing The Guardian.
“The sustained decrease in audience levels for Truth Social indicates a growing rejection of the divisive rhetoric that has characterized the platform since its inception,” Polskin said. “If this trend continues, it could spell trouble for Mr. Trump at the ballot box.”
Launched in February 2022, Truth Social was established by Trump after his suspension from major social media platforms like Twitter (now X) following the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Despite regaining access to these mainstream platforms, Trump has continued to utilize Truth Social as a primary channel for his political messaging.
Polskin’s analysis highlights concerns that Trump’s continued use of the platform, which has been a venue for spreading misinformation about election fraud, ongoing legal issues, and other controversies, might be affecting his appeal among voters. The platform’s declining engagement could impact Trump’s overall political influence as he campaigns for the 2024 presidential election.
