Thousands convicted in Uzbekistan for embezzlement in 2025

Nearly 5,000 people were convicted for theft through embezzlement or misappropriation in Uzbekistan in 2025, receiving various punishments ranging from fines to imprisonment, according to Podrobno.uz.

The press service of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan reported that last year, 4,985 individuals were found guilty under Article 167 of the Criminal Code. Sentences included fines, corrective or mandatory community service, restrictions on freedom, or imprisonment. An additional 69 people received suspended sentences.

The majority of these cases were handled in Tashkent, as well as in the Samarkand, Andijan, Namangan, and Kashkadarya regions.
