Thousands to take part in Karelian Sword 25 exercises in Finnish heartland
The Karelian Sword 25 exercises are set to take place in the Kymenlaakso region of Finland from May 23 to June 1, 2025.
This large-scale military exercises will involve approximately 5,000 personnel, including a wide range of Finnish Defence Forces units and international participants, Caliber.Az reports via the Finnish Army’s website.
The Karelia Brigade will lead the exercises, supported by forces from the Armoured Brigade, Army Academy, Pori Brigade, the Finnish Defence Forces’ Logistics Command, and the Finnish Border Guard. In addition to these Finnish units, the exercises will see participation from up to 100 British soldiers and US staff officers. Notably, the British Armed Forces will contribute a detachment of AH-64E attack helicopters, adding significant air support capabilities to the drills.
