Three killed, dozens injured in monster truck show accident in Colombia
In the Colombian city of Popayán, during a monster truck demonstration, the driver of one of the vehicles lost control and crashed into a crowd of spectators. Three people were killed, including one minor, and around 40 others were injured, according to Noticias Caracol.
The TV channel reports that the driver lost control while performing a stunt jump, after which the vehicle broke through a barrier and slammed into a lamppost. Local authorities expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured that everything possible is being done to assist the injured, some of whom are in serious condition.
Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Investigators intend to examine the technical condition of the vehicle and assess whether safety requirements at the demonstration site were properly observed.
