Three workers die in coal mine collapse in Tajikistan
Three workers tragically lost their lives following a collapse at the "Fon-Yagnob" coal mine in Tajikistan, according to the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense's Telegram page.
The collapse occurred on January 17 in the Sughd region, Caliber.Az reports via Asian media.
"Upon reaching the site of the accident, mine rescue teams discovered and recovered the bodies of three miners, born in 1978, 1983, and 1984," the statement read.
Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collapse.
In 2023, 52 accidents were registered at enterprises and facilities in Tajikistan, resulting in 36 deaths and 34 injuries.
The main causes of accidents are the irresponsibility of engineering and technical workers at the scene of the accident, the inattention of victims when working with hazardous objects, violation of industrial safety rules and field development technology, as well as a shortage of qualified specialists.
