Top Armenian bishops face investigation committee questioning

Bishops who are members of the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Armenian Apostolic Church have been called in to Armenia’s Investigative Committee.

According to Caliber.Az, the information was disclosed by Ara Zohrabyan, the former chairman of the country’s Chamber of Advocates.

Zohrabyan said that the clergy representatives were summoned as defendants in a criminal case concerning obstruction of the enforcement of a court decision.

“This is clearly another instance of interference in the Church’s internal affairs, the main purpose of which is to block the convening of the Bishops’ Assembly,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
