“Toy Story 5” tops North American box office with $160 million debut

23 June 2026 08:43

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 led the North American box office on its opening weekend, taking an estimated $160 million in ticket sales, according to data from measurement firm Comscore.

According to foreign media, the result marks the strongest domestic opening of the year and extends the franchise’s long-running commercial success.

The latest instalment continues the story of Pixar’s flagship series, following 2019’s Toy Story 4.

Globally, the film generated a further $152 million from international markets, bringing its worldwide opening total to $312 million.

Audience response was broadly positive, with the film holding a 94% rating from 217 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and an “A” grade from CinemaScore polling.

In second place, Universal Pictures’ Disclosure Day earned $17 million in its second weekend, lifting its North American total to $78.3 million after 10 days in cinemas.

Rounding out the top three, Focus Features’ horror title Obsession added $14.2 million in its sixth weekend of release.
