Toyota reports record sales of 10.47 million vehicles in 2025 fiscal year
Japanese automotive giant Toyota Motor Corporation sold more than 10.47 million vehicles in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, marking a return to record-high sales after two years, according to company data.
Despite ongoing global trade challenges, analysts noted that the company achieved strong results even in the face of tariff measures introduced during the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, which had a particularly strong impact on Japan’s automotive sector.
The record performance was also achieved despite a sharp decline in exports to Middle Eastern markets. In March alone, shipments to the region fell by 46.4%, driven by heightened tensions surrounding Iran following U.S. and Israeli strikes.
Overall global sales rose by 2% year-on-year. Domestic sales in Japan fell by 2% to 1.48 million units, while overseas sales increased by 2.7% to 9 million units, underscoring continued international demand for the automaker’s vehicles.
