Tragic grenade explosion claims lives of five family members in Azerbaijan
A devastating grenade explosion in the Aghjabadi district of Azerbaijan has resulted in the deaths of five family members, with two others suffering injuries.
The incident took place in a private residence in the village of Hindarkh around noon on January 31, 2025, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the explosion was caused by a hand grenade. The following individuals tragically lost their lives:

Two other family members, Ulviyya Shamig gizi Guliyeva (Mamedova), 39, and Aysun Namig gizi Guliyeva, 9, sustained various injuries in the explosion. They are currently receiving medical treatment.
The district prosecutor’s office has launched a criminal investigation into the incident, with the case being handled under articles 124.2 ("Murder committed by negligence, causing death to two or more persons") and 228.1 ("Illegal possession, sale, carrying, etc. of ammunition and explosives") of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the explosion and to hold those responsible accountable.
